“ To alleviate poverty and bring about economic and social justice and healing to the less privileged in all areas of life and help them live with human dignity, through education, empowerment, sustainable indigenous livelihood resources and means”. Dhaya Seva Sangam is working for the cause of rural poor, oppressed and especially the leprosy patients in Kancheepuram and Chengalpet Districts of Tamil Nadu. . At present we have 52 leprosy patients who are married and have children and 51 leprosy patients who are bachelors under our care. They live in houses provided by NGOs and Churches. These leprosy patients maintain themselves by begging in groups which is not human and their children do not have a positive approach towards life due to this. Dhaya Seva Sangam presently runs a rehabilitation programme by providing monthly provision (groceries) for food. Education is the greatest asset of a human being. We believe LIFE Transforms with Educated Children. Dhaya Seva Sangam strives to provide these poor rural children, whom we intervene, with educational supportive programmes aiming at their overall development. ![]() ![]() With this aim,we started Rural Study Centre at Nathammedu village, near Kalpakkam in Kancheepuram District. There are 52 school going children who study in this centre. There is a qualified trained teacher who has produced 100% result in the venkampakkam Goverenment school who teaches these children. Added to this teachers from Chennai city also provide classes on weekends once a month. The frequency of this support is to be increased. At present the Rural Study Centre functions in a thatched roofed structure with our walls and with mud flooring. The total area is 700 sq.ft. enough space for the children to study. We have 24 children who are studying in schools. We will be grateful if you can help to support this programme and help in educating these children and also helping leprosy patients who undergo multiple discrimination and sufferings. |
